Our why

Issues facing coaches when training the tackle
at all levels of the game are shared.

Player improvement is important. Player safety is our responsibility. The responsibility is on a coach to arm a player with the knowledge that will make them the best contributing defender they can be. It is the coaches responsibility to ensure a player has the knowledge that will minimise uncertainty & mitigate injury at the collision to ensure they are developing safe contact habits & instincts.

In order to support overcoming these issues we’re sharing knowledge about tracking developed at the elite level with the whole game.

We believe if you can make it simple & easy to explain & train tracking players can be more accurate and more effective defenders.

Defence is
50% of the game
What percentage of your coaching is spent on defence?

Defense is difficult to coach and avoided by coaches.

Coaching defense is challenging and often overlooked because of the difficulty and lack of resources (tools & knowledge).

ClarityIf a player does not understand TRACKING they will not tackle well.

UnderstandingTracking is a skill that is bloody hard to explain & execute but in essence is simple.

ConsequencesIf a player fails to TRACK well, meaning they do not position themselves correctly to make a tackle, they will:

  • miss tackles
  • miss tackles repeatedly
  • injure themselves
  • injure themselves repeatedly (head, shoulders)
  • lose confidence
  • stop playing the game

RepetitionDefence requires training, repeatedly but too much contact training can be detrimental. Bags & shields have their place but do not train defense “in motion” or train “tracking”.

Tracking is the foundation
of good tackling
Tracking is fundamental to good defense, the tackle & player development.
